Yolanda Larner is a senior learning and operations leader with 15+ years of experience guiding organizations through the design, delivery, and scale of learning in complex environments. Her work centers on operational excellence for L&D teams, including organizational effectiveness, delivery models, quality systems, and the strategic use of AI to improve consistency and impact. Yolanda is a frequent conference speaker, known for translating strategy into execution through clear, practical frameworks. She has presented at events including the Canadian eLearning Conference, ATD, OEB, and Learning Technologies conferences.

Workshop Information:

Many L&D teams try to solve delivery challenges by improving individual courses, tools, or templates—while the underlying operating system remains fragmented, unclear, and reactive. This full-day working session helps participants shift from course-level fixes to system-level design.

Through guided, hands-on activities, participants will examine how learning work flows through their organization, identify operational friction points, and design a scalable L&D delivery model. Drawing on real-world experience leading a fully remote, multi-disciplinary L&D organization, the session focuses on practical operating components such as workflow design, role clarity, intake and prioritization, quality checkpoints, and meaningful metrics.

Participants will actively build core operational artifacts—including workflow maps, RACI models, and intake criteria—and leave with a 30-60-90-day plan to pilot improvements within their own learning function.

Objectives:

  • How to map and analyze an end-to-end L&D delivery workflow to identify bottlenecks, handoff gaps, and systemic inefficiencies.
  • How to clarify roles, decision rights, and accountability using practical RACI models and intake criteria tailored to learning work.
  • How to design lightweight quality and review checkpoints that improve consistency and outcomes without slowing delivery.
  • How to identify and communicate meaningful operational and learning metrics that demonstrate L&D impact to stakeholders and leadership.
  • How to create a 30-60-90-day action plan to pilot system improvements within your own organization.

Audience: Intermediate, Advanced

Software/Platforms: Digital workflow mapping or diagramming tools, RACI frameworks and standardized intake templates, basic tracking and dashboarding tools (e.g., spreadsheets), collaboration tools for cross-functional or distributed L&D teams.

Artrell is passionate about crafting experiences that help organizations rethink capability, constraints, and growth, principles central to The Box experience.

Workshop Information:

Learning experiences don’t fail because learners are disengaged. They fail because learning design often overlooks how people think, feel, and behave under pressure. Assumptions, habits, identity, and past experiences quietly shape how learners engage with content, navigate learning environments, and apply learning beyond the session. In this full-day workshop, participants experience The BOX Experience as a design framework that makes invisible thinking visible, and thus, "redesign-able." Through guided activities, reflection, and facilitated dialogue, participants explore what it feels like to be “boxed in,” how that state influences learning and decision-making, and what it takes to design experiences that influence behavior change. Participants will translate experiential insights into practical design principles and leave with a repeatable lens for designing learning experiences that learners can navigate, internalize, and apply, resulting in meaningful behavior change.

Objectives:

  • To analyze how assumptions, habits, identity, and prior experiences influence learner behavior and engagement, particularly under pressure
  • To examine learning experiences through The BOX, identifying design choices that unintentionally limit clarity, confidence, or application
  • To design learning experiences that intentionally account for how learners think, feel, and behave in real-world contexts
  • To apply The BOX design lens to a real learning challenge, creating a practical shift that supports meaningful behavior change

Audience: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced

Software/Platforms Used: The BOX technology is a paper-based, interactive participant guide. No other technologies will be required for this session

Workshop Information:

L&D departments are always asked to do more. Stakeholders will give requirements without always knowing what is involved in their requests. Sometimes, they know specific criteria must be met and will pass that along to the L&D department. You probably have heard things like:

“Make it shorter, but still cover all the content.”

“Training must be personalized but scalable for the entire organization and vendor network.”

“Oh, there will be some delay between when participants take the training and when they use the information, so ensure the learners don’t forget.”

Objectives:

  • Design to encode, store, and retrieve information using a layered and spaced approach
  • Create desirable difficulty in learning activities
  • Move beyond regurgitation, and empower learners to reflect, elaborate, and generate new insights
  • Evaluate effectiveness

Audience: Novice, Intermediate

Software/Platforms Used: Zoom, Adobe Connect, Teams, Airmeet and LMS tools.
